This is not an entry, but a disclaimer *please review*

ajsadowski
I have been putting a ton of time and simscash (money!) into my current house and its architecture. Recently I noticed a friend of mine has copied my house down to the room placement, which i thought would never happen as many of the items i used to design my house were removed. Basically I would just like to claim that i designed this house, I have proof of it in the form of step to step pictures  of the evolution of this house.

Please review these pictures as i am very serious about authenticating my house

Photo from February 16 where I am designing my first balcony:

Photo from Febuary 19 where I change my balcony's cabinets to all brown:

My house has changed even more by now, but i don't want to spoil it by posing up to date pictures (which I can do if need be). I request however that if Jen's house, or any other house that steals my design in its entirety is submitted for home of the month, IT WILL BE DENIED. I understand that people have the right to borrow ideas from other peoples houses, but to mimic an entire house and submit it before the original would be cruel and would ruin any chances I have of entering the original home. I have plenty more pictures of my present house, and the past stages of my house if needed.

As flattering as it is to have a copycat, my only intent is that it will be judged as so if ever submitted.

Thanks you,

ps. I did contact Jen and nicely asked her not to submit her house

Please note that I am very anal when it comes to detail, and have been holding out the submission of my house for some time now in order to get it to be, in my mind, perfect. the house that i envision as a dream home. Because in my eyes, that is what the sims has always been about. Making a dream/idea reality.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about.  Yours is way better!

thank you, and its much better now even. My worry isn't that hers is better, but that it is too close to mine. If she admits her's first mine wouldn't come off as an original idea. It may not be as big of a deal as i tried to make it :P

basically i wanted to make this page as a disclaimer I could go back to if her house was ever submitted, (which may never happen). Haha

i agree with your point there, there are so many awesome inspirational homes posted here and i do believe one can get an inspiration but hopefully not copy the exact  layout and submit as an entry here...totally unfair for the original layout owner. i do believe evryone has an eye to design their own unique entry

And to be honest, what i expect people to take away from my house if anything, is the balcony. But i also believe that they should not simply replicate my balcony, make some changes of your own! put some YOU into your house. The balcony was not an 100% original idea of my own to speak truthfuly. I saw a similar balcony, with different materials used to build, of a different size, and with no side part of the balcony used to go around the house. a single balcony. so i recreated that balcony, replaced the materials with the ones i wanted my house to look like, made A TON of tweeks to the balcony, and "wala", my house today. Inspired by a house i saw only 1 time, that was torn down shortly later by the owner, so all i had to go by was the one partial picture i had took because i liked the look that a balcony adds to your house.

BE CREATIVE PEOPLE. inspire to make things better :)

Please, take your time in creating a great house that you enjoy! One you can call your own! Don't steal other people's ideas
